NALM Core Group 29 / 10 / 2006
Present: Shirley, Jaak, Coen, Hans, Immo, Monica
Themes:
- what is going on in the mandate groups
- what will be the function of the core group in the future
- the foundation
- the money
1. The foundation (verein) NALM eV
The foundation is redone because the statutes had to be changed. There were no further problems. The present people signed. The other members will receive the statutes by post to sign them. The time of the foundation was: 10.17 h.
2. The core group in the future.
The core group seems to be an open group. Not everybody is always there. New people join in, others leave. How open does it have to be? Who cares? Who decides?
It has to stay flexible.
The core group gives policies. It can not decide in daily matters. It is too slow and does not meet often enough. In this sense it is not very reliable.
The core group sets out the main lines and has an awareness in the fields. It also acknowledges new fields. Smaller decisions are made in the fields. They should not be made alone but together with other colleagues.
Important decisions, concerning the ‘Verein’ and the financial policies will be made with the core group and the ‘Vorstand’.
3. The mandate groups
The Network
Who is it? How relating with it? What with responsibility? What about international questions? How is it financially carried?
The NALM has to be an organism, not an organisation. It has an open core group. It lives from ‘Überschusskräfte’. It is an organism that has supporting points (Stützpunkte) where the work is done.

The Nalm ‘as network’, does not organise things for others. Publishing courses in the program for example is not a guarantee that they will run. Course carriers are responsible for own publicity.
How does the NALM get visible? Is it mentioned by the colleagues?
In ‘Treffpunkt’ this was not visible. How is it with other courses? Who works out of the NALM.
Jaak: What is working out of the NALM? When does one work out of NALM? That is abstract. Most people work out of themselves. But they can indicate that there is a movement behind, an impulse that inspires their work.
Immo: Do we need agreements, a paper?
Shirley made a proposal for an agreement to build a colleagues/associates group who are committed colleagues and would carry responsibility for NALM. Will people go for it? Who do we ask? Who do we have confidence in? How to find a procedure?
Another question is the quality control. (is this for the Network or for the Academy?) And who do we sent where so that not only Coen runs around.
There was talk about the different categories. We call them: carriers (Träger), colleagues (Kollegen), coworkers and friends (Freunde). How do people connect to NALM and make visible how they are using new learning? How are they aware of new developments?
Shirley: Why not turn it around and just ask people to become colleagues?
The network group will formulate a paper. It has to be formulated as a question. The network group will work it out (Monica, Shirley, Ulrike). It will be published in the bulletin. We will begin by making personal contact with people we can see as a colleague, and with those who contact us. That means we will have to build up a list of people who are acknowledged as colleagues. The aim is to strengthen the professional network.
The academy
Different things are running at the moment:
- The AEC
o the new flyer: it will be a different layout, focussed on the AEC and description of the blocks worked out better, especially the first block.
o the spreading of the course in 3 blocks is felt as a good thing
- Colleagues meetings will be organised (Fachtreffen) where Colleagues can deepen different themes. In March we try to work around “art and destiny learning”.
- Deepening courses will be organised for the course givers in the future. For Coen this is also an opportunity to introduce his new findings.
- Research groups are going on: managers group, encounter and karma. It would be nice to have reports from time to time. These could be published on the internet, under password..
The question for quality supervision appears here. Who will take care that the preparation courses will have a certain standard?
There is a possibility that participants for the AEC can be supported by the Arbeitsamt.
A question was in how far the AEC will be carried by the Verein. In any case has it to carry itself, both concerning the organisation and the finances. It has to be decided in cooperation with the core group in how far the Verein will support the AEC with publicity, administration, bursary money, etc. This will be the same for all initiatives within the academy. Ulrike asks how to integrate ‘Begegnungs Gesprach’ with NALM. Could Ulrike Schauss ask for support to organise the encounter courses, (publicity, bursary, …..) But the organisation and the responsibility stay with her. Academy may decide what courses are to be offered by the Academy. Verein can say what support is possible.
4. The money
We need between 35000 and 70000 € a year. Where and how to get it.
- the Iona Stiftung: for this we need an application. And the Nalm has to be financially healthy, both the Academy and the Network. They have to be self carrying.
- Promotion by the Verein, what directions are we ready for?
o talk with people
o a general brochure
o sending out professional news (bulletin, calendar)
o a press release for the foundation
- Maybe we have to emphasise the karmic work more in the publicity. It is like a label people recognize. We should use it. We have to question ourselves about our main task.
- Maybe we need a travelling team to answer demands that we meet.
- Fund raising should be done by the Verein, coordinated for all purposes.
