Report of Board and Core Group Meeting

 16.30 PM  6 JANUARY 2007 AT UBERLINGEN

Present:   Immo Lunzer, Michael Schmock, Shirley van Houten, Coen van Houten, and Ulrike Schauss, Monica Pfiffner, Jaak Hillen

Meeting began with an update of where is the NALM, for Michael.

RESEARCH

Where is research being done and on what questions? Research can be funded if identified, transparent, by whom and what methods.  What will be done in the coming year 2007?

Important is to document the research, describing what for, intentions, particular or general, and afterwards the results.

Important is that recognized institutes or persons affirm the research project, giving it a standard.

It may be advisable to seek a consultant to advise how to formulate an appeal and project description.  A funding request must show specific areas of research. It may include cost of advisors and consultants.

FUNDING APPEALS

Three directions were identified in meetings in Bochum with Treuhand trustees:

  1. funding for research  (may be possible through Anthroposophical Society in Germany for example)
  2. funding for transition process, for development to next stage. (through foundations such as Treuhand, Iona StichtIng, etc.)
  3. funding for Coen’s personal work, such as book completion (through Michael Schmock social foundation. Appeal is already prepared and being submitted)

Appeals for the second direction must show how we will become self funding, over coming years (looking ahead 3 to 5 years).  Forecasts should be believable, realistic, obvious progression, specific in showing for what funds will be used.   Appeal makes visible what we intend,… what we expect…   Appeal should show what is the total need as well as where we will be seeking funds and how much from each source.

BANK ACCOUNT

Opening of account at GLS Bank Bochum is in process.  If clearance is received from the Finanzamt during 2007, receipts can be given for all donations received during the year.

VISIBILITY AND ACCEPTANCE

Ideas were sounded how the NALM can be more recognized and accepted in the Anthroposophical movement.  We need to look at this internationally?

Agreed Michael Schmock will seek an appointment with Paul Mackay in Dornach.  We will meet with him to inform of the verein and NALM direction. When date is known, we will decide who goes. Coen will not attend this meeting.

Other possible openings were mentioned – such as a European coordinating organization (Immo will investigate).

Can we find way to research and contribute to Institutes of Spiritual Life?  Find the way to document this task?  Direction (see Core Group meeting) of a consultancy service was also mentioned – which Michael suggested be written up, then it can be looked at.

BULLETIN

Immo will write a report on Verein developments for the Bulletin.
